Music, live events, technical production and the Crested Butte community have become interconnected parts of his life—and BlackLine Entertainment is the result.

How it started
A Lifelong Connection to Music & Production
Matti’s path into professional event production started during his junior year of high school when he enrolled in a production class. It didn’t take long for something to click.
He already loved music. Production showed him another side of it—the equipment, preparation, problem-solving and technical work required to make a live performance happen.
He discovered that production and music go hand in hand.
That high school production class gave Matti the fundamentals that would eventually become the foundation for his future. What started as an introduction to production developed into years of hands-on involvement with music, live events and the technical side of putting on a show.

Crested Butte Became Home
On August 2, 1996, Matti moved from Austin, Texas, to Crested Butte, Colorado. And Crested Butte became home.
Nearly every mountain town has its own personality, but Crested Butte is especially defined by the people, music, events, traditions and community that make it different from anywhere else. Matti wanted to be part of it.
“CB is my home, and I love being involved in everything Crested Butte represents.”
That involvement has naturally included live music and event production. Whether it’s a concert, community gathering or another live production, Matti’s philosophy is pretty simple: if there’s a production happening, there’s a good chance he’s somewhere nearby.

Speakers, microphones, cables, lighting fixtures, mixing consoles and amplifiers are obviously important. But equipment is only part of production.
Matti sums it up this way:
“It's 10% wires and knobs and 90% everything else.”
That “everything else” is where professional production really happens.

Great production work is often invisible.
When everything goes correctly, the audience isn’t thinking about microphone placement, signal routing, stage monitors, speaker coverage, lighting positions or equipment logistics. They’re watching the show. They’re listening to the music. They’re enjoying the event.

Event Production in Crested Butte & Gunnison
BlackLine Entertainment is based in a community Matti has called home since 1996. That local connection matters.
Producing events in the Colorado mountains can be very different from working in a traditional urban venue. Locations vary dramatically. Weather can change. Access can be challenging. Indoor and outdoor venues require different approaches.
Artists and event planners may be coming from outside the area and need someone locally who understands both production and the community.
